Public Schools

Washoe County School District

The Washoe County School District (WCSD) is a public school district providing public education to students in Washoe County, Nevada, including the cities of Reno, Sparks, Verdi, Incline Village, and Gerlach. As of September 2006, the school district had 63,098 students enrolled. It is the second largest school district in the state of Nevada.
The WCSD currently has 64 elementary schools, a special education school, 15 middle schools, 12 comprehensive high schools, Truckee Meadows Community College High School, Washoe High School (an alternative school) and the Regional Technical Institute.
In the WCSD, elementary schools typically include kindergarten through sixth grade, middle schools include seventh grade and eighth grade, and high schools include ninth grade through twelfth grade.
